What drawing tools do I use? People always ask.
Here are some answers.
If you want to learn more about How To Make Comics, I highly recommend the new book
Drawing Words and Writing Pictures Best-Of: My Online Comics
Older drawings: I have an annotated archive of drawings from 2005 and earlier here. NOTE: I am no longer selling original artwork online, due to time constraints and logistical nightmares. If you'd like to purchase original pages from my books, try to find me at a convention or signing. |

Dec. 22nd, 2008 at 12:13 AM This penciled panel is a good demonstration of how I space out my word balloons. It's a combination of words, scribbles and straight lines. (The final lettering in the book is done with a computer font) most wonderful time of the year
Dec. 13th, 2008 at 11:49 AM If I don't post much or at all until the new year, it's because I'm drawing 1.5 million pages of comics per day in an effort to finish this book on time. Buhhhh
Dec. 2nd, 2008 at 5:32 PM I'm having a cranky-ass day, but here's a panel I scanned recently and saved for just such an occasion. ![]() Finally Final
Nov. 30th, 2008 at 2:47 PM ![]() I re-drew the cover image for Vs The Universe a little while back and have been waiting until solicits to show it off. I guess it hit Previews this week (that's the catalogue where comic stores order their stuff), so here it is. FINAL. There is still one special thing about the cover that I can't tell you, and some special things about the release that are being worked out. Meanwhile, I will make best efforts to finish the insides of the damn thing. Hergé quote
Nov. 25th, 2008 at 3:57 PM "And right now, my work makes me sick," he tells his wife. "Tintin is no longer me. And I must make a terrible effort to invent (him)... If Tintin continues to live, it is through a sort of artificial respiration that I must constantly keep up and which is exhausting me." This is why Scott Pilgrim ends. If I was still doing Scott Pilgrim in ten years, I would be dead inside. I got sick & I got sicker
Nov. 25th, 2008 at 12:38 PM Happy thanksgiving week in the U.S.A., where I now live! I realize that Not Blogging for almost two weeks is a huge no-no. I have been all over my twitter because that's easier, but in general: I was sick most of last week, and home alone for the past five days, so I've occupied myself in other ways than posting here. Anyway, I'd be cranky if a blog I was reading didn't update in two weeks without a peep, so, here's a picture. ![]() ...and hopefully I'll have more to say soon. |
